"As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place" (Proverbs 27:8)

In short, nothing is worse than being out of place in your career. You lack passion - and going to work becomes a drag. This checklist provides pointers to help you package and position your skills for maximum impact. You are guaranteed to hit the jackpot.

  • Know Thyself

I can do all things through him who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).

What are your dominant skills?

Your blessings are tied to your dominant skills. They will swing the doors wide open.

What distinguishes you from others?

Aside from your degrees or credentials, what makes you special? People hire or do business with you based on the problems you are able to solve.

Why should any organization hire you?

Why should the company do business with you?

What three separate words best describe you?

  • Know Who Needs You.

Your gift makes room for you, and brings you before great men (Proverbs 18:16).

Who are the great men? Unique opportunities, the perfect projects, prosperity, and non-stop work.

  • Be specific

  • Devise a list of your top 10.

  • Package your message.

Write the vision and, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (Habakkuk 2:2-3)

  • Create a resume/bio/portfolio that highlights your skills, accomplishments, and experience.

  • Write a cover letter that motivates the reader to dig deeper.

  • Go for the gold.

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, (Ephesians 3:20).

  • Be bold - you will stand out.

  • Target the decision makers.

  • Scrutinize your targets. Companies place you under the microscope. Why not turn the tables?

  • Monitor and evaluate your progress.

Be anxious for nothing. (Philippians 4:6)

Unfortunately, being in a dry place too long causes you to lower your expectations.

If you are hitting a brick wall, re-evaluate the strategy. You may be trying to land in the wrong pasture.
