This article gives insight on how to proceed when you are pondering a career decision. I did not always pursue spiritual wisdom and paid a hefty price - you can avoid mishaps. So, pay close attention.The following tips will help you land in green pastures. Equally important, they will strengthen your relationship with God.
5 Tips
Pray.
Philippians 4:6 says, "Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Avoid the stress derived from running around asking people their opinion. Instead, just pray and ask for wisdom.
When you go to God, explain the situation. You are probably thinking, "He already knows." Yes, God is all-knowing; still, you gain from hearing yourself explain the dilemma - sometimes the answer reveals itself. At the same time, cut to the heart of the matter. For example, "Is this opportunity a part of your will for my life?"
Keep praying until you get an answer. For the most part, my inquiries are acknowledged quickly. At other times, the matter required me to pray over the course of a few days. If that becomes the case, stay on point.
Listen.
Unfortunately, most people miss it here. Do not make the conversation one-sided. After you pray, expect a reply. In fact, have a pen and piece of paper handy.
One of the best demonstrations of readiness to hear can be found in the book of First Samuel. The priest (Eli) encouraged young Samuel to utter, "Speak Lord; for thy servant heareth" ( verse 3:9).
Moreover, God speaks in different ways. How do you know the resolution is from God? It will always align with the Word.
Do what he says.
John 2:5 notes, "Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it." Imagine what would have occurred if the servants ignored Jesus' instruction to fill the empty pots with water. The wedding guests would have been without wine.
Let me admit that following through is not always easy, especially when you have already decided what you want. Nevertheless, God knows best. Recall what Isaiah 30:11 says, "If you are willing and obedient you will eat the good of the land."
Regardless of what others say and regardless of what you think or feel, trust him. Even if 50 people tell you otherwise, yield to heaven. Defer to Proverbs 3;"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take" (verse 5-7, New Living Translation).
Praise him.
Praise is the power twin of prayer.When praise goes up, blessings come down.The Bible contains numerous examples.
"So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city" (Joshua 6:20).
"And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Sier, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten"
(2 Chronicles 20:22).
Be consistent.
James 5:16 explains, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. The Bible mentions Daniel prayed three times a day.
When his life was at stake - King Nebuchadnezzar decreed to kill the wise men of Babylon because they could not interpret his dream - he and the three Hebrew boys went into prayer.
What was the outcome? Daniel 2:19 tells us, "Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. He gave the interpretation and got a promotion.
Although this post shared advice to assist you in making effective career decisions, they apply to all life issues. God has the master plan. Nonetheless, you must seek him. Proverbs 8:17 declares, "I love those that love me, and those who seek me find me."
