According to researchers (Gettysburg College) one third of your life is spent at work, so being in the proper place makes the difference between feeling stimulated or stuck. You cannot afford to cast your pearls where they cannot shine. The blessing commands productivity (be fruitful, multiply, (Genesis 1:28).
Therefore, you must read this. It will save time, eliminate stress, and help you land in the right setting.
7 Tips
Seek God's counsel first.
God created you. Moreover, you were designed for a specific place. For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope - Jeremiah 29:11 (New Living Translation).
While this is the first step, most overlook it. Yet, spiritual wisdom advances you in the correct direction. All you have to do is ask. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him (James 1:5). I do not know about you, but I need the inside track.
Expect an answer.
When a client requested that I join the company, the answer came through a dream. I stood inside a house filled with former customers. Then, I glanced through the living room window and saw a man outside boarding up the house. I was trapped with people who racked my nerves. The message was clear: do not get trapped. Six months later the organization went under.
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask in prayer (Matthew 21:22). God cares about you and your vocation - it is a calling.
Go where He leads you.
He knows where you will blossom and increase. The Lord says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you - Psalm 32:8 (New Living Translation). Trust his guidance.
Listen to the still small voice.
And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave (I Kings 19: 12-13).
Whenever you feel the slightest hesitation or churning in your stomach, take heed. God is trying to tell you something. Even if the proposition seems like an opportunity of a lifetime, hit the pause button. Please note that the revelation does not come in a lot of noise.
Overcome your fear.
I landed my first professional job as a junior in college. However, the first two weeks were spent in seclusion - I hid in my office. Theory is one thing, but application is another.
Nevertheless, I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears (Psalm 34:4). Before long, one would have never guessed I was a rookie. In fact, God's grace caused me to be recognized as Employee of the Month twice.
Never forget that you have been equipped.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10). God prepares you before he sends you anywhere. He gifted me to work with troubled youth, sent me to that particular agency, and moved on the heart of the program coordinator to hire me.
Do not chase money.
Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go (Isaiah 48:17).
Simply put, God will make money chase you. For example, I turned down one project (shaking in my boots), waited, and God rewarded me with an unexpected government contract. What makes it special? First, I did not bid on the job, and secondly, it was offered at my rate.
Acts 10:34 tells us that God is no respecter of persons. In other words, He does not discriminate. What he did for me, he will do for you.
