Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9).

You apply for the job, ace the interview(s), and win the coveted position. Everything is moving in your favor. Then, out of the blue- you get cold feet. Sound familiar?

Doubting yourself is not uncommon, especially when the enemy tries to trick you by whispering lies. Ephesians 4:27 says, "Do not give the devil a foothold." He aims to halt your progress. Refuse to let him win!

For that reason, this blog post discusses three sure-fire strategies to help you advance. They worked for people in the Bible, they worked for me, and they will work for you too.

3 Tips

  • Look within.

You are not alone - you have a silent partner. What is more, you have the same spirit residing in you that raised Jesus from the dead. Thus, look within and proclaim, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). Never forget who you are working with.

George Washington Carver credited his reliance on God (the silent partner) for being able to discover the benefits of peanuts. Carver spent the first partner of the day in the woods (listening) and the second part of the day in his laboratory (experimenting). He referred to his laboratory as "God's Workshop".

  • Ask for help.

Sometimes you will lack exposure. Do not brood over it. Solomon lacked experience, and he was the king. Still, he had the inclination to seek help. Moreover, he went to the right source.

Solomon prayed for wisdom. He said, "Now, Lord my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do no know how to go out or come in. Therefore give to your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil (1 Kings 3:7,9). Aside from gaining wisdom, Solomon was granted prosperity also.

At the start of my career, I lacked experience planning and implementing programs. Yet, I was charged with the responsibility of empowering troubled youth and their families. Through reaching out to seasoned professionals around the city of Cleveland, I gained insight, confidence, and a large network of contacts. As a result, I learned that people enjoy sharing information.

  • Be creative.

He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by and embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by weaver - by sort of workman or skilled designer (Exodus 35:35). God endowed the children of Israel with the ability to build the temple in the wilderness. He turned ordinary men into craftsmen.

Likewise, the necessary skills and talents have been deposited to help you complete your assignment. Determine to be an innovator, enjoy the process, and give 100% of yourself.
